Acuity
my keen perception drives me forward

I step boldly along the path set before me.
Like a horse wearing blinders I can see only forward,
unaware of what passes me by.
I follow the path through the night,
armed with only a flashlight.
Yet my way is illuminated
by the beam directly in front of my feet.
I am not afraid of what I cannot see.
Any bends or forks in the road I handle
as they come into view,
but sometimes I find myself back where I started,
only to make the right choice the next time.
I continue onward
through boon or consequence.
Every step, trudging over sharp rock
or wading through soft grass,
brings me that much closer to
self-actualization.
