Nod And Grin, Wipe The Chin As I was walking down the street,
I'd nod my head at all I'd meet. They'd look at me, each with a grin, Nod in return and wipe their chin. Now, I was pleased with the grins I got, But wiping of chins puzzled me a lot! I tried to figure what that could mean. It was the strangest thing I'd ever seen. While walking through the hardware store I noticed the phenomenon occurring once more. People would nod as I wandered that place, Wipe their chins and stare at my face. I began to think how special I was. I caused the world to erupt in a buzz. They seemed to sense I had inner beauty And paid attention to my civic duty. The wiping of chins must be a new thing To show the pleasure my presence could bring. My ego grew, my heart filled with pride As I paid for my hammer and ambled outside. A mother and child were headed my way; I knew that my smile would brighten their day. I waited there for the nod and the grin. The child yelled out, "There's egg on her chin!"
