Twilight Demon Lust

On soft cat feet I follow. You’re never too far ahead.
Auburn waves are shimmering as you shake your pretty head.
I love to watch you walking in the ever-fading light.
We'll soon be one together – I’ll wait until dark of night.

You gently swing your handbag, check your watch and look around.
Whispers, eerie in the night; you tremble at every sound.
Your mother should have warned you of dangers walking alone.
Mysterious things happen. Hear the wind begin to moan?

It’s just around the corner where I’ll take you -- by surprise!
A black cat scurries across the street with fear in its eyes.
The witching hour approaches as my heart begins to pound;
A deadly, beating rhythm -- I hope you don’t hear the sound.

I slip into the shadows of an oak tree near the trail.
As you approach I grab you! You struggle ... to no avail.
I pull you close, feel your warmth, inhale your gasping breath.
Into your neck fangs sink deep and you sink ... into death.

Nectar warmly fills my veins, gives me mortal life again;
If only for this evening – then my strength will start to wane.
This night's bloody work is done. Refuge dark I crave for sleep --
Tomorrow’s moonrise awaits ... and in the shadows I’ll creep.
