(Word count: 280) Gus furtively glanced over his shoulder; there was no one in sight. He went back to the task at hand, using the piece of chipped obsidian to hack at the plant he knelt before. He was in Para territory, the neighboring tribe, if they came upon him he knew he would die unpleasantly, and he meant to have a warrior's honorable passage to the next world. Initially, he had been chosen for the hazardous mission because of his stealth abilities and massive strength. He could crush a foes skull with one whack of his club. These were useful attributes to have in rough times. Gus liked it, he always got the best looking chicks and first choice of meat at a kill. Additionally, his cognitive abilities were such that he wasn't aware that he should refuse the task. Gus had worked his way through a handful of the stringy stalks on the green plant. Another handful or two and he would retreat to his tribe's, the Asp, territory, throw the stalks to the old woman for preparation and then find Bambi for some recreation. This was his twenty-first raid into Para territory for the stringy foodstuff the females of the tribe made him eat. Something about vitamins and minerals, he didn't really care; with some garlic butter they weren't too bad. It was beyond Gus's comprehension, he just did what Desiree, Bambi, and Ethel told him. He got more recreation time that way. As Gus strode through camp he tossed the delicacy, Asparagus, to the old woman that prepared the group's food. Then he went in search of Bambi, With any luck, he thought, she'll be with Ethel or Desiree. (Word count: 280)
