Chaos in Kirkwood

For a moment, there was order.  Through the door burst an irate citizen strafing the council chambers with rapid fire.  In the end, two council members, two policemen, and the Director of Public Works lay dead, two others seriously injured, and the gunman killed by police.  Kirkwood residents mourn, drawn together by yet another tragedy.

NOTE:  On the evening of Thursday, February 7, 2008, a gunman killed a police officer outside of the Kirkwood, MO City Hall.  He then went inside to the council chambers where a meeting was in progress.  There, he shot and killed another officer, two council members, and the Public Works Director.  The mayor, who remains in critical condition, was shot in the head.  A journalist for a local paper was shot in the hand and remains hospitalized.  Both underwent surgery today.
