A Sonnet in One
This is a sonnette I wrote some time ago during a creative writing class.

Tis without just cause that I return
Into the arms of a former lover
For hope has now begun to fail and burn that
I would in you forgiveness discover

This heart has wretched and torn my soul asunder
Sought I my love in arms perfumed in passion
Not yours but that of pain as I did murder
Our vows once made in god’s holy mansion

If you must now turn away in angry tears
This first I beg look one last time on me
View me naked, wretched before my peers
Make fast your exit as I dare not more be

A fallen spirit I have become
And so must now die a broken man
