Fields of Snow

The light hop, frantic and fast, across the white
The winter coat blends the motion of its flight
When danger crosses in the shattering sky
The hare scampers with all its might
Across the fields of snow

Chill winds, harsh and bright, aloft the light wings
Eyes sharp as talons search for offerings
Nature has given voice to the ungentle cry
The hawk stoops in frightening flight
Across the fields of snow

Heart beats, high and hard, in chests conflicting
Loss in tomorrow, loss in now and time restricting
No debates of logic against the quiet sigh
Prey survives and predator flees
Across the fields of snow

In cold earth, secure and solace, beneath the white
Wings open to guide the motion of its flight
Clouds bumble across the shattering sky
Humble finds the heart of its might
Across the fields of snow.
