MOMENTARY SOLACE
What is a dream or thought or a picture? A reflection of someone’s heart or face. What’s a piece of paper with a few words? A memory of that very someone. That memory often brings a few tears, As also, in between the tears, a smile. It unburdens the strain upon the heart And brings to it momentary solace. Too precious to me are those rare moments, Too ephemeral, the solace they give. Soon afterwards my heart does brood again, Lost in the deep and dark alleys of grief. But verily those moments of solace Lend to my life a serene touch of grace. * Written in pentameter * Written for “Inspirations” contest, "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 16 February 2008
