words and white light
based on the Lune form, a poem about inspiration and it utility

when I invent curious words flowing automatically from
my feeble heartstrings

will their message
be something anyone else deems worthy of sharing?

are my riches only contained in poetic verse
read by strangers

or do rhymes
sometimes turn nickels into dimes for faraway fans

staying with me for a little while longer
guarding my dreams?

I share them
describing my heart’s copper pennies like rough diamonds

I throw sweet penance into deep wishing wells
trying to believe

that hidden sentiments
are like Las Vegas newlyweds, love’s lucky winners

prayers disappear again, coming and going like obstacle
courses in summertime

heated and sweaty
I fear destiny’s wicked grip — I fall heavily

suddenly I doubt, my journey seems to melt
evaporating like steam

victim of life
visions flowing before white light, lost in ether

replacing heart valves, last minute emergency surgery succeeds
implanting new hope

and my words
finally breathing in and out, my saving grace

words and white light
