"Tonight, We Dance ..."
In our not-too-distant future, can we have one last dance to say farewell before the end?

Imagine the possibilities of our not-too-distant future.
What could happen if the political leaders of the world fall into insanity?
What if one of them wants to be in control of ALL governments and wants to divide the resources of the earth as he or she sees fit?

Think of the chaos. Think of the turmoil.
Think of the imminent destruction of the world.

Imagine ... we are told that a great and glorious war will begin at dawn.
It is a war that will forever change our place in the world.

Yes ... we know. Hope is gone.

So, we plan to “celebrate” by having a farewell party.
Farewell to loved ones ... farewell to friends ... farewell to life.

The following sonnet reflects the possibilities of that future.

“Tonight, We Dance ...”

The world we know is being torn apart
Our leaders cannot find a compromise
A devastating war is soon to start
We need a way to say all our goodbyes.

The line is drawn; a deadline has been set.
All nations of the world engage at dawn
A farewell party may let us forget
Our hopes of peace and life are all foregone.

Although the morning brings the final war,
Tonight we dance; our bodies move as one.
With reckless smiles, we glide across the floor
We know the end of days has now begun.

At sunrise, missiles bring death to mankind.
I close my eyes, still dancing in my mind.
