The Stiff Hairdo
“Hey mom, it’s time to get out the grey” My children would tease and tautingly say. So off to Drug Mart was my goal I was about to sell my soul. A nice dark brown I thought would do Then home I trudged to start life anew. You wash your hair with love and care The instructions said so I did dare. I let the colour set with glee A transformed mom I was going to be. But somehow soap got in my eye And blurred my vision, it is no lie. The rinse I arranged with little help And poured it over my coloured scalp. I’d forgotten my son’s new model plane And the glue he placed beside the drain. You guessed it right, my hand did grasp The cup of glue not the colour bath. Now I’m the brunt of many a joke And hide beneath a hood and cloak. Line count: 20
