        WEDNESDAY

The phone rings in this very early morning,
Oh ! My sleepy eyes are still tired.
The phone keeps  ringing and ringing,
I am still dreaming ?  I cried .

I was crying in my dreams,
My pillow is wet.
The salty tears so it seems,
I wiped them with my blanket.

My body ached as I answered,
Hello ! Good morning .
A voice on the other end quivered,
8-2-3-4-5-7  ?  He was asking.

One moment, Please was my answer,
As the cold breeze embraces my body.
Yes,  this is 8-2-3-4-5-7, my number.
May I help you ? the words came out slowly.

The voice continued asking,
May I speak with my best friend ?
The voice not familiar I was wondering,
My raised- eyebrows, my eyes-widened.

He continued, So I got the right number,
I replied, Yes ! and it is very early Sir !
May I know the name of your bestfriend?
One moment, please was his answer.

Her name is Angela a pretty Filipina,
She's my bestfriend thirty-five years ago.
Angela, there is no Angela,
Is this a joke Sir ? I told him so.

I have no time for a joke,
I am here to see her and tell her I love her
I am so tired from the travel I took
At long last, He heard my prayer.

One moment, please.....
Sir, this is a mistake,
8-2-3-4-5-7 Am I correct Miss?
8-2-3-4-5-7 Correct !

845 Plaridel St he insisted,
Right address but no Angela here.
Miss, listen to me, he persisted.
Wow ! he said, Right now I'll be there.

Hm,hm, hm,hm,hmhm,hm,hm..

I still wanted to say ,One moment please..
He put down the receiver I was amazed.
knock, knock, the familiar tapped
Mr. Mailman in front , a letter on hand.

Ma'am a letter for you from a far away place,
Why so early we're you the one who called ?
No, Ma'am , will you please sign this ?
A registered mail with a stamp of gold.

I am on a holiday today Ma'am
So this is a special delivery
I will be back after a month Ma'am
Thank you.Ma'am Have a nice day !

One moment please I wanted to say,
Yet the mailman left in a hurry.
The letter in my hand , addressed to :
Naomi Abenido, my angel so lovely.

This letter is for me, from whom could this be!
A letter dated February 14, 1973
My spine quivered, I can not control my tears
One moment..please ..I cannot bear.

The letter sender was an old friend
He used to call me, his morning angel..
He died many years ago it is only lately that I know,
The mailman had it delivered after long , long years..

hm, hm, hm, hm
One moment, please....
hm, hm, hm, hm
one moment please...
