America and War

Some thought about the Homeland.

America and War

Certainly, life is short;
with the world always ending
we go where they're sending.
What worth has dying been for?

We all defended during the Civil War.
Protected when they threatened our shore.
Ready to die. Sacrifice. Losing the fight,
America gives more. To Keep. To Save.
Everything our Fathers have forged.
Follow suit, Step in line. We'll tell you how much more,
you need to save, to buy, the world wants American life.
To the end, at the brink, blood will flow.
As body counts grow, the old will send us to die
before they admit defeat.

[added 2012]

In fact, they never did send me
I didnt even try to go.
So listen then tell this
to all who will sell this.

This life that I live
is worth more than I give
And I would die forgotten if my leaving
added meaning to those that
in reading, I dream of being.
Wake up believeing in the end
the world will admit to knowing
that the blood always flowing
was never enough to fill all the holes.
