IN THE I.C.U.

I.V.; heart monitor
Things stuck to body parts
Tubes and wires
leading to machines
Hospital gown
no jewelry or watch
No underwear
feel so naked
Laid out for all to see
Is this me?

Crabby nurse
She hates to be here(?)
Does she see me?
Am I Here?

Hmm---my fingernails
are so long
Look---I can dig into
my wrist!
I can scratch
with my nails
They didn't think
about that
They think I'm safe
But look what I can do
with just my nails

Ha! They don't even
see me.
They don't really care
I'm a Criminal
taking up a room...
taking up their time...
A Criminal.
I tried to
KILL MYSELF.

Hmm---these nails
are inadequate
Skin's too tough

Is anyone there?!
Hello...
Can anyone Help?!

Does anyone Care?

I'm Sorry!
I know I don't deserve it,
But could someone

Please...

Anyone...

please...

hold my...

Hand?
