                                            Ghazal 72


Persian:  Dar shab e hijr keh az rooz e qiamat bater ast
              Mardum e deeda e mun gharqa ba khoun e jigar ast
Urdu:      Yeh shab e hijraan keh hay roz e qiamat say bater
              Mardum e deeda karay hay ghaqa e khoun e jigar

English:=== Without her the night is full of gloom
                  And the day is worse than the Day of Doom
                                                    -

Persian:  Sakin az aab shawad aatish o ya az deeda
              Ghaq e aabaem o hunooz aatish e ma taeztar ast
Urdu:      Aab o aatish ko milati aankh hay kaisay meri
              Ghrq paani maen hay, per aatish hay us ki taeztar

English:=== The fire of love, without a doubt
                  With all your tears you can't put out
                                                    -

Persian:  Ba tarawat rukh e to rashk e gul e sairaab ast
              Ba tabassum dahanat ghairat e tung e shakar ast
Urdu:      Khurrami say rukh tera rashk e gul e taaza o tar
              Lab teray ander tabassum ghairat e shehd o shakar

English:=== Her rosy cheek the flowers envy
                  Her smile is sweet as sweet can be
                                                    -

Persian:  Aey saba, gar guzari bar sar e an koo, barasaan
              Khabar e ma bar e an kus keh zay ma baykhabar ast
Urdu:      Aey saba, jaay ager too koo e jaanaan maen kabhee
              Day khabar maeri usay jo hay nihayat baykhabar

English:=== O breeeze, when you go to her street
                  Tell her I love her but do be discreet
                                                  -

Persian:  Qaasid e Kaaba ba maqsood nadarad khabaray
              Garcheh dar baadia baychaara ba jaan dar khatar ast
Urdu:      Qaasid e kaaba naheen maqsad say apnay baakhabar
              Jaan us ki hay agercheh dasht maen ander khatar

English:=== The lover, though he doesn't know
                  His journey of love is full of woe
                                                    -

Persian:  Mardumaan munkir e ishq und, manam kushta e o
              Shaiwa e ma digar o shaiwa e mardum digar ast
Urdu:      Munkir e ulfat haen mardum, ishq ka maqtool maen
              Taur maera hay digar, hay shaiwa e mardum digar

English:=== Though the preacher doesn't like it a bit
                  I love her too much; I'll never quit
                                                  -

Persian:  Gar banooshad qadhaay KHUSRAV e miskeen geh gah
              Aeb e o poosh keh in shaiwa e ahl e nazar ast
Urdu:      Gahay gahay maikashi kerta hay KHUSRO ger tera
              Aeb poushi ker keh hay yeh shaiwa e ahl e nazar

English:=== He does not also like the wine
                  But KHUSRO thinks it is benign
