“Silent, Surreptitious, and in Love”
I’ve always been with you You don’t detect me, but I’m there If there’s one thing I can’t do, It’s to leave you alone Your stunning ebony hair is like ravens’ feathers, Your pearly complexion like the arms of angels, All captured perfectly on a Canon camera I’m not mad, I just can’t resist you Blame nature for this love, My needing and wanting to be near you Every. Single. Solitary. Day. I am, actually I trail you from daybreak to midnight I slip into your home when you have your back turned And watch you Relishing your splendor I lurk in your closet, Under your bed, And across the street Waiting for you patiently (This is how dedicated I am) Where there’s light I’m nearby Where there’s dark, I gaze at you from your walls Like a ghost, Because my love is secret And silent And some may call it “shadowy” The irony is almost too much to stand I am, after all, your shadow.
