DARKEST NIGHT: a sonnet

When I find the bright of the day is gone,
The evening shadows loom in horizon;
The sky is full of clouds where sun had shone
And hope has given way to derision;

When pleasures of the life are there no more,
When gloom and darkness everywhere abound;
When spirit cannot any more endure,
When not a ray of happiness is found.

Will that count as the darkest night of all?
Will that be the one full of black travail?
Will it be just a precipitous fall?
Will it be a moment without avail?

No, that won't be for me the darkest night.
As, He will beckon me with kindly light.
