The Bookworm and the Centipede (from prompt A)
for children aged 6 - 8

The Bookworm loved to read. He lived to read. When he read a book, he was transported to wonderful new worlds, he learned amazing things, he met fantastic characters. The Bookworm thought that books were the best thing in the world, maybe the universe.

The Centipede loved to explore. She was always looking for new places, new things to see. When she was exploring, she saw wonderful sights, learned amazing things and met fantastic creatures. The Centipede thought that exploring was the best thing in the world, maybe the universe.

The Centipede thought the Bookworm was silly, sitting with his nose in a book all the time. The Bookworm thought the Centipede was silly, running about outside in all weathers.

The Centipede's mother and the Bookworm's mother were friends, and visited each other often. The two mothers were sorry that their children didn't get on better.

"What can we do? My son loves reading so much. He hate exploring," said the Bookworm's mother.

"I don't know. My daughter loves exploring so much. She hates reading," said the Centipede's mother.

The mothers looked at each other. They looked at their children. The Bookworm was reading a book called, "Facts about the World". The Centipede was in the garden, examining the weeds growing in the wall.

The Adventures of Funella the Furry Fairy (from prompt D)
for children aged 4 - 6

*Star* Assignment *Star*

Your assignment is to write a story or poem intended for a certain age group (preschool-6th grade) using one of the following picture prompts. Indicate which prompt you used and what age group it is intended for. If you include a moral lesson, be very subtle!

*Star* *Star* *Star*

The Prompts:
*Note2* A: a bookworm (reading a book)
*Note2* B:laughing mice watching a box (TV?) One mouse appears to be pulling the plug out (or plugging it in)
*Note2* C: four people (children) in a dragon costume. (yellow and orange dragon, dragon face like a 'laughing' dog)
*Note2* D: a small, furry creature. Big eyes, little tongue sticking out, hands folded. Big feet with long toes.

My Notes:

*Note4* The bookworm and the centipede - two ways of learning things.
*Bullet* Bookworm sits and reads. He loves to read, to learn new things.
*Bullet* Centipede loves to explore. She runs here and there and is always seeing new things.
*Bullet* Bookworm and Centipede don't get on. Each thinks the other silly.
*Bullet* They swap places - Centipede takes Bookworm round her favourite exploring sites, then Bookworm reads Centipede his favourite books.
*Bullet*They don't 'convert' each other, but they make a few changes. Centipede now reads a book to find new places to explore, and Bookworm goes outside to read - and sometimes, stops reading and looks around.

*Note4* Telly-loving mice (and what they watch)
*Star* A problem with the cable? Have to fix it/do something else.
