LAKESIDE DREAMS: a sonnet
This is the very place where I had walked, With you, hand in hand, thoughts of you in heart. On this very bench by the lake we stopped And you had kissed me and our love did start. Can I forget that turbulent moment, Which, to this day, is a part of my life, When my heart had willingly itself lent To dreams of being one day your sweet wife. Those dreams were never destined to be true. Love was not destined to tickle your heart. I was truly destined to that day rue, Knowing now that you played a scheming part. Those dreams are gone and my life is shattered. You are happy as if nothing mattered. * Written for “The Romantic Interlude Challenge Round 2”, "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 9 March 2008
