Afraid of the Dark

The sun begins to set and fade,
As shadows start to shift in shade
And suddenly I am afraid;
I'm glad you stayed, I'm glad you stayed.

I know that you are bold and brave,
You will protect me, you will stave
Off phantoms rising from the grave;
Your arms I crave, your arms I crave.

I hear them howling in the night,
I hide my face and shake in fright,
I plead with you to end my plight;
I pray for light, I pray for light.

When daytime comes they disappear,
In sweet relief I shed a tear
And thank you with my words sincere:
‘You saved me dear, you saved me dear.'
