Whispering Remember
Three friends revisit their childhood intending to leave it behind...

A smell was blowing to them as they stared across the grass,
A memory so beautiful reminding of times past,
An echo of the happiness that had ended all too fast,
Long ago,

The grasses and the treetops, as they swayed within the wind,
Were echoing the memories the three had held within,
They were whispering, reminding them of what this place had been,
"Remember..."

They had come to say goodbye to it, to travel separate trails,
But now they stood before it, and were captured by the vale,
The essence that was taking them, intrigued with all the tales,
They had told.

The smells were bringing back again,
the tales they had told, back then,
the wind was still caressing them,
And whispering, "Remember..."
And they did.

They were back again, in pirate ships, in castles and in palaces,
Back again in fantasies of ancient, evil menaces,
There they were, the heroes, and were leaping deadly crevices,
Again,

Spinning tales of bravery,
not yet forgotten memories,
once more, defeating slavery,
Before the story's end.

The three of them were heroes,
were once more defeating pharaohs,
were escaping dragons' borrows,
And the three, once more, were friends.

Once more, the three were on a quest,
Would travel east and travel west,
They were the kingdom's very best,
The three of them, once more,

The comrades' bonds were made of steel,
They wouldn't budge, and wouldn't yield,
Would not betray, their lips were sealed,
The secrets they had stored.

And they remembered.

At last, the sun had gone away,
And gently taken all the day,
And there, beneath the stars, they lay,
The three of them, the friends.

And they remembered.
