A WINTER NIGHT
O winter wind, cold and icy, Cutting the skin so deep, You invigorate lungs even As I shiver and creep. Peeping out of my window sill, As I gaze in the sky, A thousand twinkling stars greet me, As a pale moon I spy. The pine is covered in the snow, A white sheet all around. Nature, in thy pristine beauty, A heaven I have found. A lonely howl breaks the silence Of the black and white hue, Reminding that life does, in snow, Quietly continue. • Written in abcb, 8-6-8-6 format M C Gupta 18 March 2008
