IF I TREMBLE....: a sonnet


Lord help me follow the path You have shown,
So one day I reach my destination.
You know that to temptation I am prone;
Please don’t visit me with consternation.

Give me strength so that I do not falter,
Hold my hand so I don’t fall into sin.
Guide me unto Your heavenly alter,
Encourage me, my journey I begin.


If I tremble, let me tremble bravely,
Knowing in my heart that You’re not away.
If my knees do give in Your path Lordly,
Pick me up but don’t let me go astray.


Now that in my heart Your light You have shown,
I know You are with me, I’m not alone.
