My Spirit Weeps

My heart mourns, for it loves what it can not keep.
My soul suffers and without you, my spirit weeps.
Our souls, once intertwined, have somehow come unbound,
And I find you slipping away with a softly silent sound.

My arms ache, as I struggle to hang on,
But I am weak and know that soon you will be gone.
I must release you, though you may not return,
But if I hang on, my love you soon will spurn.

So I let go, for I love you too much to chain,
Though your parting causes me such pain.
My heart mourns, for it loves what it can not keep.
My soul suffers. Without you, my spirit weeps.
