Misery's Murder

Misery's found me
and havin' her fun,
she's draggin' me down
but I got a gun.

She's ruined my day
and scared off my friends,
then made my whole life
a road of dead ends.

She kept me from smilin',
just layin' awake,
it's more than I'll handle
and all I can take.

I'll take her to dinner
and pay for the meal,
I'm singin' the blues
cause that's how I feel.

Now Misery's got me,
I'm barely alive
but I'm packin' the "heat"
a Colt forty-five.

So when it was time
to head out the door,
I shot her three times;
two more on the floor.

I know it's not right
to shoot someone down
but I murdered Misery
and I'm outta' town.
