he shriveled in desperation and confusion
cowering in the shadows of his father’s death refusing to love, refuting hate’s force stuck in the leading role of indifference brought on by mutual estrangement his father’s idea of love at that moment, tears did not swell waiting for the casket to be lowered into the ground’s wet forgetfulness then, invisible behind the great oak he let out a wailing cry, a single note of grief filled the air with his presence at last claimed, accosting memories with years of his father’s empty promises desperation and confusion desperation and confusion [2008.20.3…d]
