after the funeral
when the mourning process must lead to healing and how I have started it

now I have to end this chapter so I can finally live
tense unrhyming verse scratches at my sad heart still held captive
by depressing tones of unheard sound filling my empty soul
and soon the sweet music I should hear will render my loss whole
as the lilies on your freshly mourned grave greet the mossy earth
though you spent my lifetime trying to prove I had no true worth
the goddess brings me a quiet moment resembling my birth
today my tears dry slowly, my meditation grows pensive
I burn ritual herbs for your soul, roses smoke in a bowl
my heart sways gently, and through your ashes I glimpse love and mirth

after the funeral
