How to Create an In & Out

In & Outs are a great way of creating a place where visitors can leave links to items of interest, add to a list of events, or be tailored to an activity.

They can show up to 100 entries, the last one dropping off the page when a new one is added. In & Outs can be customised to your needs and any level of account can make them here at WDC. Here's how.

click on the link for create an item
click on the option to create an In & Out
section 1 to section 4 follow the same as any static creation and you should complete the fields as prompted and don't forget to show off your beautiful In & Out with maybe an illustration, and lots of WritingML
section 5 relates to Item Type Specific Settings. The item suggests you try out and see. Remember you can do this without anyone judging your efforts until you are ready by choosing to Keep Private For My Eyes Only in the Access Restriction field of Section 1
Simple is best for your first In & Out, but if you do want to customise your settings check out the following information "The Ins and Outs of In & Outs" 

Here is the easy version, step by step:

choose classic style
click the arrow for the drop down window of display order and select newest first for item advertisements. Leave with newest last if you want additions to a story/activity.
click the arrow for the drop down window of require item ID and click yes if you want authors to highlight and provide links to their items. Click no if you want them to add commentary only.
click the arrow for the drop down window of show how many entries to reflect the amount of entries you would like people to view.
leave the next 4 fields blank unless you specifically need them
"one submission" text field can be engineered to show what kind of submission you want to encourage: this will be personal to your need, so filling it in makes your In & Out look more polished. If you are creating an item to highlight authors work you would type in "Highlight"
leave the custom In & Out formatting field blank
save and view making any extra editing decisions once you are up and running!
