I can remember as a young child of 9 or so taking a summer writing workshop class. I had wanted to write but was unsure of myself. This class started my love of the written word, writing or reading. Throughout the years, I've written when the muse hit me(sometimes with a concrete block). Lately, after having my life disrupted by the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and already having another untreatable and incurable neuropathy, my writing started up again. To me, writing was my way of releasing pent up emotions like rage, depression, and misery. It became my best friend, the whispers in the night that made me jump up and write something down, my confidant. Shortly after starting on this site, I became aware of the A-1 Academy and became very interested in taking part. My writing takes form in poetry generally and lately, I have wanted to try my hand at short stories, novels and such. Taking the writing classes, I knew I could give myself a good foundation at starting such pieces. I'm sure that I will take more classes after these are over. But I am willing to do what is necessary to improve my writing.
