A variant on the English form is the Spencerian sonnet, named after Edmund Spenser (c.1552-1599) in which the rhyme scheme is, abab, bcbc, cdcd, ee.
Touch Me Please In total darkness now, the clock strikes twelve - There's nothing here - no love, no laugh, no light. But into dreams of you I jump, I delve. Please save me from this dark and lonely night. I feel you here beside me, not in sight, The warmth of body barely touching mine - Resisting urges, sadly losing fight, Please show me something strong, show me a sign Of love for which I beg, I plead, I pine. I've needed you since days were bright and hot So let me taste the taste of lips of wine And hide your heart from me, I beg you not. Oh, touch me please, I need you can't you see - Your love is all I need to set me free. Written for April's prompt at:
