I'm still haunted
What abuse does to a child

I cried last night as I slept,
My pillow soaked with tears.
I knew that even as I wept.
I had traveled back in years.

Abuse is such an ugly thing.
Some turned their eyes away.
The skin deep imprint of your rings.
Scarred my face that day.

Whenever I look in a mirror.
I see your mark on me.
My eyes reflect my deepest fears,
And show I 'm still not free.
