Whispers In The Dark

While walking in the park one night
I came upon a wondrous sight,
A phoenix sitting in a tree,
He seemed to be looking right at me.

"Don't walk down this particular lane"
He spoke to me in whispers plain.
"You'll find a gang - an unsavoury lot
Who spend their time just smoking pot."

He preened his feathers gold and red
Then looked at me again and said,
"Please turn around and go back home,
And sit beneath your whispering dome.

The sound of ohm I'd like to hear
So we can hear the sounds down here,
The gang of smokers are plotting crimes
Which they have done a hundred times.

And now it's time to make them run
The sound of ohm will scare these scum."
So off I went to my whispering dome
And silently began to ohm.

The next night I again did walk
And suddenly I heard a knock,
The phoenix pecked upon his tree
And whispered, "That young gang did flee,"

So when you hear whispers in the dark
Then look for a phoenix in the park,
His whispers might lead you to say
"I've done a very good deed today."
