When I No Longer Remember You
Alzheimer's, that disease that robs us of our loved ones

When I no longer remember you,
Nor do I recall your face,
Do not be dismayed
Because I am not far away;

When I no longer remember you,
And the laughter is gone,
I am only hidden behind a door,
But not for long,

In my state of confusion,
God is still in control;
He has me in the palm of His hand;
One day soon,
When I’m wrapped in His arms,
I will be made whole;

When I no longer remember you,
Life does not stop;
This is only temporary;
It is just the beginning of my journey;
A ticking of the age old clock.

Did I fulfill my purpose here?
Did I finish my walk?
Did I make an impact upon others
In a positive way?
What legacy did I leave?

This is only a shell,
And death is only a sleep;
For me, do not grieve.
Sadness is a part of life;
Sorrows sown in fields of wildflowers;

Our tears recorded in God’s book,
Each and everyone.
In God’s heaven I will cry no more;
So for me, do not despair;
The veil will be lifted when I leave to walk
With Him on His eternal shore.
