                                          Ghazal 103


Persian:  Ghulam e nargis e mast e to tajdaaraanand
              Kharaab e baada e lal e to hoshiaraanand
Urdu:      Ghulam aankh ki masti kay tajdaar bohat
              Kharaab e baada e lab taeray hoshiar bohat

English:=== A slave of your eyes is truely a king
                  The wine of your lips is the real thing
                                                    -

Persian:  Tura haya o mara aab e deeda shud ghammaz
              Wagarna aashiq o mashooq raazdaaraanand
Urdu:      Teri haya say, meri chashm e tar say raaz khula
              Haen warna aashiq o mashooq raazdaar bohat

English:=== Your shyness, my crying did secrets reveal
                  Though lovers tell never how they feel
                                                      -

Persian:  Bazeer e zulf e dota chun guzar kuni,bangar
              Keh az yameen o yasaarat cheh bayqarraaraanand
Urdu:      Haen taeri zulf maen jitnay bhee aashiqoun kay dil
              Wo zaer e saya sahi, per haen bayqaraar bohat

English:=== In your locks the captives, O you should see
                  They are as wretched as they can be
                                                      -

Persian:  Guzaar kun chu saba bar banafshazaar o babeen
              Keh az tatawul e zulfat cheh sogwaaraanand
Urdu:      Guloun ka haal bura hay banafshazaroun maen
              Yeh zulm e zulf say taeri haen sogwaar bohat

English:=== When I see the violets I feel so bad
                  Being jealous of your curls, they look very sad
                                                        -

Persian:  Raqeeb dar guzar o baesh az in makun nakhwat
              Keh saakinaan e dar e dost khaksaaraanand
Urdu:      Raqeeb chorh bhee ab, isqadar ghroor na ker
              Haen saakinaan e dar e dost khaksaar bohat

English:=== O tell my rival not to be so proud
                  And not be lusty, boisterous, and loud
                                                        -

Persian;  Na mun bar an gul e aariz ghazal sarsayam o bus
              Keh andaleeb e to az her taraf hazaaraanand
Urdu:      Ghazalsara gul e aariz pay aek maen hi naheen
              Haen naghmazan yahaan her soo teray hazaar bohat

English:=== I'm not the only one who lauds your cheek
                  There're millions and millions your rose who seek
                                                          -

Persian:  To dastgeer sho aey khizr e paykhajista keh mun
              Piyaada meerawam o hamrahaan sawaaraanand
Urdu:      Ho dastgeer too aey khizr e paykhajista keh maen
              Piyaadapa houn magar sath haen sawaar bohat

English:=== My rivals laugh; with blisters I cry
                  I go on foot while they all ride by
                                                          -

Persian:  Bia ba maekada o chehra arghavaani kun
              Maroo ba somyia kan ja siyahkaaraanand
Urdu:      Sharaabkhanay maen chal, pee kay surkhroo hoja
              Na ja ba somyia, wan haen siyahkaar bohat

English:=== Come to the pub, you'll be close to God
                  In the shrine the sheik is a total fraud
                                                          -

Persian:  Naseeb e mast bahisht,aey Khudashanaas baroo
              Keh mustahhiq e karamat gunahgaaraanast
Urdu:      Ghuroor itna hay kuin sheik zohd per tujh ko
              Haen mustahhiq e karam bhee gunahgaar bohat

English:=== After his death, in Heaven he lives
                  For God a sinner always forgives
                                                          -

Persian:  Khalas e HAFIZ az an zulf e taabdaar mabaad
              Keh bastagaan e kamand e to rustgaaraanand
Urdu:      Rihaie bandish e gaisoo say maang mat HAFIZ
              Keh bastagaan kamand us kay rustagaar bohat

English:=== And a captive of your locks though HAFIZ may be
                  As a prisoner there he is truly free
