Bittersweet Summer Now comes the time to open all the doors - To smell the scent of Jasmine in the air; Head to the glowing sands of closest shores And leave it all behind - your dreams, your cares. But I'll not watch the children play outside And run their way around the bases - worn; I shall not watch the ocean's rhythmic tide. The battle in my mind, it rages - torn. I'll love and I'll remember this - the taste Of sweetness on your lips - the taste of me. But now it seems the Summer's only waste Was that I could not let our love just be. I've learned the harshest lesson of them all - A Summer's love, though short, is all but small.
