A ROAD GOING NOWHERE--award winner

A ROAD GOING NOWHERE

I have been walking along
A road going nowhere.
I have had few pleasures but
A lot of pain to share.

Having walked too long I feel
That I am a bit tired.
No rest at sixty five years,
From work though I retired.

Shall I blame the world for this?
No, these are my travails?
It is the traveller’s fault
If in the path he fails.

I chose the road of money,
Which is but a mirage.
How can on it anyone,
Peace and joy, envisage?

Now I walk with bliss and joy
The road of contentment.
No more do I chase money.
No more my resentment.
