Earth Day Greetings

Hello, my dear and special Mother.
How are you doing today?
I hope your heart is happy
As you watch your children at play.

You show your great beauty always.
You give life and wonderful love.
From the smallest, young green tadpole
To the cooing of a fine feathered dove.

Your colors we see are gorgeous.
They change as the days grow long.
There is food for each energetic creature.
We pause to listen to the ocean's soft song.

Your parts have changed with time's passing.
You accept aging with wisdom and grace.
But when hurt turns into tragedy and sadness
There are tears and pain on your face.

Your children are not always loving.
Some times they leave holes in your heart.
The things they do are forced and degrading.
Each thing is a crime, and tears beauty apart.

You are older than I can imagine.
You were born from a hand that no one could see.
You will be here when all is dust on your shoulders
And it is unknown what anyone's future will be.
