As I Age
Thoughts about growing old

As I Age

My hair that used to be chestnut brown
Is now starting to turn gray,
And I often feel very tired
By the middle of day.

My body is starting to age
And sometimes I have pain,
Mostly in the mornings
Or when it starts to rain.

My days they are long
And the nights are too,
I try to keep busy
As I seek new things to do.

The days all seem the same
It's hard to keep them straight,
When writing out my bills
I often forget the date.

When I was young my life was full
With being a wife and a mother,
But those days are long past
Each day seems to run into another.

When I look back
It seems the time went so fast,
Then I realize my future
Will be shorter than my past.

As I look back on days gone by
I can truly say, it wasn't all that bad,
So I'll look back and be thankful
For all the good times that I've had.

And when I lay my head down tonight
I'll pray to God above,
Let me find someone who is lonely too
So I can end my days in love.
