If Only I Could Be

The mother you were to me,
I'm sorry I could not see,
You were always looking out for me.

You always had my best interest at heart,
Especially when I was not being so smart.
I know now it must have been tough,
To keep all of us kids from getting in to stuff.

But somehow you managed and got us all through,
The good days and the bad.
Some days with tears you washed away our fears,
Putting smiles back upon our faces.

Little did we know one day, not so far away,
It would be our turn to make the choices.
Thanks for all you taught us mom, We Love You!

I hope one day I can be the mother you were to me.
