The Fools or The Lovers

In the still of the night you held me tight with words whispered softly of love and a future

In the still of the night you left me to stand on my own

What a fool I was to believe that I could be all that you wanted or needed





Still I tried as I might  till I just gave up

One can only take so much rejection till they relase

And see if it returns to be theirs

Or if it does not then it was never truely meant to be



And a fool I still am waiting for your return

You reach and I push away

I reach and you pull away

A constant struggle



Words issused out of pain

But never meant to wound

The damage I've done irreverabsle



Was it doomed from the beginning?

Or were we both just love's fools
