COME TO STAY
Welcome my memories you Have, with me, come to stay. Those bitter-sweet images Will, from me, never sway. Can I forget the image When I shyly proposed? But with a different look, This vain thought was disposed. And the image of my first Love that I had chosen? Alas, those sweet promises! All of them were broken. The image, the longest one, Then entered in my life: That of constant love and hate Between me and my wife. The final image, strongest, Sequestered in my mind, Is tinged with a shadow of Rather, a gloomy kind. This is the image that I Have alive till this day, When while leaving this world she, With peace, in my arms lay. I thank you my memories, Come to stay forever. Till the end I’ll cherish you, And forsake you never. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 format • Written for the "Inspirations" contest, "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 3 May 2008
