I've battled ghosts for far too long—
My memories that will not fade— Attempted to stay brave and strong; I'm weary of this masquerade. I'll climb the stairs and pause to see A world that's been too cruel to me And then I'll leap, for now I know That only death can banish woe. (A rispetto: 2 quatrains, written in iambic tetrameter with a rhyme scheme of abab ccdd.)
