Roses

Rated: E | Poetry | Emotional | #1421998
A man's longing for his family
The fragrence of dying roses
lingers around his nose
Sudden chills crawl up his spine
the source is quite unknown

Though, he thinks to himslef
and ponders for a while
And not very long after
on his face there grows a smile

He rummages through his memories
all of them, good and bad
Until he pulls up what is needed
this memory turns to be apt

For what he soon sees
fills him with glee
His now deceased family
laughing under a tree

His wife joking beside him
his children running around
His wife getting up to kiss him
his children rolling on the ground

Though soon the scene changes
much to his dismay
The setting is now a hospital
it brings him back to that dismal day

Everyone is crying
their eyes engulfed in tears
He is holding onto his wife
having to face his worst fears

He now stands alone
no children and no wife
Getting whiffs of dying roses
wondering why someone would take their life
