Out of the 35 acres that I live on, only 5 acres are opened up.  The rest are woods.  Up in the peaceful mountains, one of my favorites places is in the heart of these woods.  A serene, comforting area where I can relax and enjoy my surroundings.  I enjoy the earthy smell of pine and moss, the cool protective shade of the oaks, and the welcoming feeling whenever I'm there.  The serenity of the woods pours through my very soul as I sit quietly by a small water hole.  It is here that I often see various small forms of wildlife.

Every trip there is comforting; coming back is bittersweet.  But the woods will be there like a true friend, always waiting to welcome me back.  One last look back and a silent farewell, I head towards the house.

If I could take only one person with me, it would have to be my aunt.  She has been a very big influence in my life, so I would want to share the woods with her.
