The Dark
Rondel for Rose's Poetry Challenge...a metaphor for depression

The Darkness comes, the lights all hide
Scared of things hidden by Dark
A flicker of Hope, a miniscule spark
Pushes a little circle of darkness aside

The Dark Warrior, by whose laws we abide
Comes to snuff out that spark;
To ensure that all light has died
Hope must never destroy Dark

The hidden lights seem to have spied
The pinpoint of Hope in the Dark
The lights crowd to that point, reassured by the spark
Happy now and fighting the tide
Now that the Dark has died
