Reach High, Dig Deep
A poem about 9/11.

Reach high, dig deep.
Reach high for the dust-filled tears on your cheek.
Dig deep for the rubble underneath your feet.
Watch the sky all day, all night.
White as the rising sun,
Blue as the dark of night,
Red as the raging sun sets.

The wind blows as dust is swept,
As rubble is lifted,
goodbyes are said.
Tears are cried,
Emotions are felt,
Food is dealt.

As the sun sets,
The flag is raised,
Above our hearts and hands,
Above our on-looking heads.
As we reach high, and dig deep,
At the place we call Ground Zero.
