My Angel ~ Poem
Heart Tugging Poetry

On an errand across the street,
knocked to the ground out like a light
a car bumper and I did meet,
giving the driver a huge fright.

He lifted me in his big arms,
into the grocery store he ran.
Unconscious setting off alarms,
awakening I saw a man.

I will never forget that day,
it was the strangest thing to see.
A beautiful angel came my way,
sent by a holy God's decree.

From head to toe in a white gown,
young and gentle with hair so blonde.
His extended hand reaching down,
smiling, he created a bond.

"Don't be afraid, now come with me."
Taking me by my hand, we left.
"He sent me, this you need to see"
a man but unusually deft.

Across the street and up the stairs,
taking me home to see my mom.
"I'm showing you that your mom cares,
now sit on the steps and be calm."

Knocking on the apartment door,
it swung open and there she stood.
My mom answered knowing the score,
"felt you coming, I knew you would."

"Is he ok, where is he now?"
"He's across the street in the store.
I'll take you there if you allow."
Crying past me and out the door.

He took my hand crossing the street.
It was clear to me even then,
why my mom and I didn't greet.
I was not visible, amen.

With the angel into the store,
lifting my head, I said, "Hi mom."
He turned and went out the store door,
smiling he turned showing his palm.

The door closed and he gave a nod
knowing how much I understood.
An angel sent to me by God
giving me all the good, he could.

God's message, he and mom loved me.
A terrible childhood ahead,
things he knew I needed to see.
Strength needed for all of the dread.
