Soldiers
You fought for freedom from English tyranny

You fought for freedom from English tyranny
You won many battles and lost many men
You fought for what you believed in
You were revolutionary in your thinking

You went to war against your brother
You wore blue and he wore grey
You moved westard and refused to own
You fought for freedom of the enslaved

You went overseas to fight a deadly foe
You were ashamed to see what a human could do
You fought to save a people from extinction
You came home to a heroes welcome

You fought a war at sea and in the air
You saw an island paradise covered in smoke
You flew across the ocean far and wide
You dropped the bomb to end all war

You tramped through the jungles damp
You fought and lost and fought some more
You came home to scorn and jeers
You became angry and lost your way

You are still fighting in a land far away
You fight for something that can't be seen
You will come home and be cheered
You fight for freedom, you fight for us
