Forever In Our Hearts

I have learned so much from you my friend
From the first day I came to see you,
I could see that life these past months
Has been very difficult for you.

The cancer has taken away the brightness,
The sparkle in your eyes.
All the months of chemotherapy have made you
So very thin and fragile, your hair no longer shines.

I watch you struggle just to get on your feet,
So slowly and carefully you're able to stand.
Then after a slow deep breath, you are balanced,
And ready for those very important steps.

With a look of determination , you cautiously proceed,
Only to return looking pale and exhausted.
It has taken all the energy your body has,
To walk that short distance down the hallway,
And back again to your chair.

I can't remember ever hearing you complain, not once,
Never a, why me? and yet we all knew the pain had to
Have been almost more than you could bear.
You are such a remarkable person,
So brave and strong, so very courageous to the end.

You taught us all a lesson on life and death,
One of such great importance,I hope we don't ever forget.
No matter how difficult things may be, we can get through it
just wait and see.

It's been a pleasure to know you, laugh with you, cry with you,
But most most of all, to love you. Thank you for being my friend.
The day you left so peacefully, a part of us went with you,
You will be in our hearts forever.

We love and miss you Jeri .
