In a blinding flash of pain Jesse raced through confusion, anger, and resignation. At twenty-four, he'd finished school and was beginning his first "real" job... or would've been if that city bus hadn't just slammed him. As sight and sound receded, Jesse's last thought was, "I think I left my cell on the dresser..."
